- UVA RAYS = Are deep, penetrating rays that cause premature aging and an increased risk of skin cancer. Passes the skin surface without heating the skin and damaging the skin cells, does not make the skin sunburned or brown. Penetrates through cloud cover and glass (window).
- UVB RAYS = Are shorter wavelengths that turn the skin brown, cause sunburn and other sun damage. Makes the skin hot on exposure. Partially obstructed by cloud cover and glass.
- Both UVA and UVB rays can be reflected on the skin through water, glass, cloud cover and bright surfaces.
