Most people have a relationship with the word skin type. You have probably given some thought to what skin type you have. The word skin condition is a little less familiar, so here I will try to explain a little.

Skin type

The skin type you have, you are born with. It is genetically determined, and only depends on how high sebum production you have, and how easily your skin reacts to things.

There are really only 4 skin types:

Dry skin (low sebum production)

Oily skin (high sebum production)

Combined skin (areas with different sebum production)

Sensitive skin (skin that responds easily to stimuli)

What skin type you have can not be changed, but we can keep it in balance.

Skin condition

This says something about how your skin is right now. And how our skin looks and behaves is affected by many things. For example. climate, age, illness, medication, hormones, diet, lifestyle, wrong products, overstimulation etc.

There are countless skin conditions, eg:

Dehydrated (lacks moisture)

Clogged (easily gets pimples and blackheads)

Sensitized (irritated by external / internal factors)

Aged (lines, wrinkles and bumps)

Pigmented (uneven skin tone, often with spots)

You can also have other skin conditions and skin diseases, and most have a mixture of several.

So how do I treat my skin?

It is wise to pay attention to both skin type and skin condition. The easiest way to treat is the condition of the skin, and you usually start with that.
