Beta-carotene is a carotenoid found in chlorophyll-containing plants, bacteria and food. It provides antioxidant protection that helps neutralize free radicals. Beta-carotene is often implemented in skin care formulas because it also protects against UVA light-induced damage and thus help reduce oxidative stress in the skin.
